Genius Consciousness is a known nutritional supplement that’s supposed to boost cognition and provide energy.

The product takes a dual approach to boost cognitive function that claims to provide both short and long term benefits. But actually, how effective is this product’s formulation? And does it do all that it lays claim to?

That’s what we’re going to explore in today’s review.

Now that you have an overall idea about this product’s essential features, let’s take a closer look and see how it works.

What Is Genius Consciousness?

As we’ve already mentioned above, Genius Consciousness is a nutritional supplement that claims to have cognition-enhancing capabilities. It boasts of a wide range of ingredients that claim to boost cognition in the short and long term.

The product is marketed as a potent combination that’s meant to enhance concentration and memory. It’s said to promote neurogenesis, protect the brain from oxidative damage, and also boost creativity.

Genius Consciousness is the flagship product of Genius Brand, a US-based manufacturer of nutritional supplements. This is the brand behind two other popular products, Genius Mushrooms and Genius Joy which is a nootropic that improves motivation and mood.

The company was created by Robert Oliver and is headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia. Additionally, the brand was trademarked in 2017, with Pacificnorthwest Naturals LLC being the majority shareholder.

According to the founder Robert Oliver, the company’s primary philosophy is to create products that help to “optimize the mind and body.” The company claims to develop products that use natural and trademarked ingredients, which are highly potent and have no side effects.

While the company was rather unknown even a few years ago, it has recently come to the limelight thanks to the popularity of their products and their loyal customers. Also, another reason behind the popularity of the brand might be its rather affordable prices.

The Genius Consciousness supplement is one of its main products, and the company claims that it covers all aspects of cognitive enhancement. With such impressive claims, we were naturally interested in finding out the actual ingredients that this product contains.

Genius Consciousness Ingredients

Our analysis revealed that Genius Consciousness is a combination of ten significant ingredients. Most of these are high-quality compounds and have been proven to be highly effective. The following is a list of the individual ingredients and how they work. Keep in mind that all doses mentioned per ingredient are for half a scoop.

1. Acetyl L-Carnitine (500mg)

This amino acid forms the precursor to some of the major neurotransmitters in the brain. Highly bioavailable, this is also a common ingredient in weight-loss products as it works to break down fatty acids and release energy.

Among its multiple effects, Acetyl L-Carnitine works to enhance physical performance, boost cognition, and help with mental ailments such as depression and anxiety. All of these factors combined help make you feel more energetic and provide greater energy to perform daily life activities.

2. Lion’s Mane (500mg)

Widely found in the wildlands of Asia, this mushroom has been used in ancient Chinese and Japanese medicine for centuries! It’s known to contain beneficial compounds such as Erinacines and Hericenones, which help in neural regeneration.

Seen from a neurological point-of-view, Lion’s Mane positively affects the hippocampus, the part of the human brain responsible for long term memory. Thus, it works to improve retention and recall, and at the same time, works to slow down cognitive decline. We really like lion’s mane – check out our favorite lion’s mane supplements.

3. Alpha GPC (300mg)

Alpha GPC is an important source of choline, which helps to stimulate the brain. In this respect, it works much like caffeine, but without any adverse effects such as anxiety and jitters.

Alpha GPC helps to boost the production of acetylcholine in the brain. Acetylcholine is the primary neurotransmitter responsible for cognitive processes, and in this way, Alpha GPC works to enhance cognitive skills and learning.

4. Methyliberine As Dynamine(62.5mg)

Technically a uric acid xanthine derivative, Dynamine is responsible for dopamine receptor activation to help spatial working memory. In simple terms, this means the compound can improve alertness and provide greater energy to the brain.

Dynamine is closely related to other stimulants such as TeaCrine and caffeine, but works faster and is thought to be more potent. Plus, it can also be paired with caffeine to give enhanced results.

5. Caffeine (Coffee Arabica/50mg)

Genius Consciousness also contains caffeine from Coffee Arabica. Unlike caffeine anhydrous, Coffee Arabica has a milder effect on the central nervous system. However, we’d have liked it better if it were paired with L-Theanine, which can help eliminate any adverse reactions such as jitters.

However, the presence of Dynamine does help lessen the effects of caffeine, and increase mental energy levels. It also eliminates fatigue, improves focus, and enhances motivation by stimulating the dopaminergic pathways.

6. Phosphatidylserine (50mg)

This is a phospholipid that is essential for proper brain functioning. Phosphatidylserine helps to cover and protect the brain cells from damage. It has been shown to reduce the effects of memory loss brought about by old age.

Apart from maintaining cognitive function, it also works to give rise to new brain cells. Simultaneously, this phospholipid signals the body to destroy old brain cells, which are no longer needed.

7. Neurofactor (50mg)

This is an extract that’s derived directly from the coffee cherry and helps to increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels. However, seen from a chemical point of view, this is just another coffee arabica extract and works a lot like caffeine.

That’s why we have an objection to its inclusion in the Genius Consciousness formula. Since the product already contains caffeine, there’s no logic in including it in another form.

8. AstraGin (25mg)

AstraGin is a combination of Panax Notoginseng extract, together with Astragalus Membranaceus extract. This component can have neuroprotective effects, but the lowest required dosage is about 40mg.

Since Genius Consciousness contains only 25mg of this ingredient, we have serious doubts about its efficacy. Also, Panax Notoginseng usually doesn’t pair well with caffeine, so that’s another element that we’re concerned with regarding this ingredient.

9. Huperzia Serrata (5mg)

Huperzia Serrata contains Huperzine-A as the primary bioactive and works to enhance the working of acetylcholine. Huperzine-A works by stopping the production of acetylcholinesterase, which reduces the efficacy of acetylcholine.

The trouble is, the human body usually tends to build up a tolerance to this compound, hence it needs to be cycled on a weekly basis. Plus, its side effects are not very well understood, so we don’t appreciate the inclusion of this ingredient in their formulation.

10. L-Tyrosine (250mg)

L-Tyrosine is an amino acid that helps improve cognitive performance in individuals working under stressful conditions. This ingredient interacts positively with neurotransmitters and works to enhance brain activity.

However, L-Tyrosine is only effective when taken in doses of up to 2000mg. Since Genius Consciousness doesn’t contain anywhere near that amount, we don’t expect much benefits from this ingredient’s inclusion.

Apart from the above ten primary ingredients, Genius Consciousness also includes other components such as stevia, citric acid, and monk fruit. However, these are essentially filler materials and don’t contribute much to the efficacy of the product.

We can say that Genius Consciousness indeed contains some useful components such as Lion’s Mane and Acetyl L-Carnitine. But it also includes ingredients such as caffeine and Huperzine-A, which aren’t all that beneficial.

Plus, the amounts of certain ingredients, such as AstraGin and L-Tyrosine, aren’t enough to show significant results. That’s why we weren’t impressed with the composition of the product. However, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and that’s what we decided to do next.

Our Experience

Deciding that on-paper analysis wasn’t enough, we set out to try the supplement ourselves. Since it’s available in powder form, we started with half a serving in the morning for the first week.

After about 10-15 minutes of taking the product, we felt significant improvements in general awareness and energy. The effects lasted for about 6-7 hours, and we were satisfied with the initial experience.

That’s why, in the second week, we decided to go for a full serving with our morning drink. However, this time, the effects were not as potent, and we felt as if we were already building up a certain level of tolerance for the product.

Overall, from our experience, we can say that Genius Consciousness is good enough for its short term effects. But in the long term, we don’t expect this formula to work wonders. Additionally, here at Feel Optimized we typically don’t like to recommend products that contain caffeine as long-term nootropics solutions. Long story short, there are better supplements available that work faster and last longer.

Recommended Dosage

The recommended dosage when beginning on a regime of this product is half a scoop. By the way, the scooper is provided with the supplement, which makes it easier to measure the doses. Each scoop delivers 2.6 grams of the powder.

It’s best to take the supplement early in the morning, and preferably on an empty stomach. From the brand website and our experience, we think you’ll get enough benefits with half-a-scoop. And as we’ve already stated, upgrading to a full scoop doesn’t really help.

Keep in mind that since this product contains Huperzine-A, you’ll have to cycle it on a five-days-on and two-days-off basis. Otherwise, you risk building up a tolerance for the supplement, which will without doubt reduce its efficacy.

Potential Side Effects

Now we come to the most critical aspect of any supplement, the side effects. Like most of the other nutritional supplements, Genius Consciousness contains a range of ingredients that can have side effects.

We particularly find the presence of Huperzine-A to be worrying. Unless it’s properly cycled, this can lead to several adverse effects such as nausea, vomiting, and blurred vision, to name a few.

Some members of our team, and several customers, complained of a significant appetite loss after regular use. Some users even experienced cramps, which they attributed to taking the supplement.

Also, since the product contains an excess of caffeine, it can lead to usual caffeine-related side effects such as restlessness, anxiety, and irregular heartbeats. Plus, it might also disrupt your natural sleep cycle.

Overall, from the information we gathered, Genius Consciousness has to be effectively cycled to avoid the side effects. We recommend talking to your doctor before proceeding to start on a regime of this supplement.

Our Thoughts

4.0/5

After much deliberation, we are of the view that Genius Consciousness is one of the better nutritional supplements. Since there are many better products available in the market, we certainly cannot call it the best.

It contains some potent ingredients, but many of the components are either fillers or don’t have major brain-boosting properties. Plus, we don’t like the inclusion of components that build up a tolerance and need to be cycled.

Overall, we think it’s best to say that Genius Consciousness can be the right choice for those just starting in the supplements field. But for experienced users, it doesn’t have much to offer. Plus, it also has quite a few potential side effects, which is certainly something to think about before buying.
